Everyone asks me why I wanted to be a lawyer. From the beginning I wanted to help people and my goal was to find a career that would allow me to do that. By working with people who have legal needs, I am able to offer solutions that impact lives. It is a reward to be able to help friends, neighbors and those you meet day to day with their legal needs. I joined Brinkley Walser after graduation and have never left. Founded in 1886, Brinkley Walser is my idea of what a law firm should be and I found an incredible mentor and role model in Walt Brinkley. His life-long commitment to providing the highest level of legal representation for all walks of life and socio-economic conditions is an inspiration. Brinkley Walser is well respected in the community and community leadership is a must if you want to join the firm.
I am drawn to Elder Law and Estate Planning, along with representing public boards of education and community colleges. I also love the business and commercial end of law. As I grew into these practices I realized the complexities of these areas of law were going to require that I continue to learn and grow with the law in these fields. Each day brings a great deal of satisfaction to me because I get to deal not only with legal issues for my clients but I also get to see the personal, family or business dynamics which make it difficult for many clients to resolve their problems.
Over the years I have recognized that the team approach to practicing law is critical to providing a quality result. No one person has the answer. I rely on my partners, our associates, and our staff, along with the client and, if needed, their medical or financial advisors, to think outside the box to provide solutions that best fit our client’s needs. Our firm and those who work here believe in Brinkley Walser’s values and mission: Serving the clients' needs and goals while remaining true to ethical and professional obligations.
Growing up in a small town with a supportive family, I had many positive role models. Community service, leadership, and ethical behavior are core values I have carried forward and today work to instill in my children. I keep my balance through my family. I have a supportive wife and three incredible children. My down time revolves around family, community, church, camping, running, tennis and the arts.
I was honored to be asked to serve as the firm's first managing partner and tasked with growing our firm to be a 21st Century leader providing comparable big city law with small town values and traditions.
I strive to be remembered for many of the attributes in Rudyard Kipling's famous poem, "if" which speaks of the ability to talk with crowds, yet keep one's virtue, to walk with Kings and not lose the common touch, to not appear too good or talk too wise, all of which are traps for us as humans, but particularly for those of us who call ourselves lawyers.
“There could be no better choice as managing partner for this firm than David Inabinett. In addition to his very active practice, David spends many hours working to ensure the firm’s high standards and excellence in the field of law continue. His decisions and recommendations are always in the best interests of the firm and its employees. David’s goal is to have a quality law firm where people are treated fairly and to ensure the strong traditions and values of Brinkley Walser remain strong into the future.” ~ Brinkley Walser Staff
